HEavy equipment operator job description

Job overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Equipment Operator to run heavy machinery for excavation, grading, and site preparation on local construction projects throughout the Central Valley. This role requires daily travel to various job sites and is essential to maintaining project timelines and quality standards. Operators must be flexible, dependable, and committed to safe and efficient operations.

Essiential duties and responsibilities

  • Operating Heavy Equipment Such as Graders, Dozers, Scrapers, Skip Drag/Baker Olson, Skid Steers, Loaders, Backhoes, Excavators, Compactors/Rollers, Paver/Screed
  • Operate Paving Machines to Spread and Level Hot Mix Paving Material on Driveways, Parking Lots, Streets and Pathways
  • Install, Maintenance, And Repair Underground Utilities
  • Perform Site Preparation Tasks Including Grading, Trenching, Grade Checking, And Compacting Soil.
  • Using Devices Such As GPS, Surveying, And Measuring Equipment
  • Load And Move Materials Around the Job Site Safely and Efficiently.
  • Conduct Daily Inspections and Routine Maintenance of Equipment.
  • Interpret Site Plans, Grade Stakes, And Supervisor Instructions to Determine Work Requirements.
  • Assist With Manual Labor Tasks When Equipment Operation Is Not Required.
  • Other Duties as Needed

Qualifications

  • Previous Experience with Heavy Equipment Such as Excavators, Bulldozers, Backhoes, Skid Steers, Loaders, ect.
  • Previous Experience with Underground Utilities, Paving, Grading, Preferred.
  • Ability To Judge Distances, Slopes, And Terrain for Safe Operation.
  • Ability To Read and Interpret Construction Plans and Grade Stakes.
  • Ability To Identify and Resolve Issues Related to Equipment or Site Conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Ability To Work in Prolonged Periods of Outdoor Work, Under Extreme Weather
  • Ability To Function Well in a High-Paced and at Times Stressful Environment
