Class a truck driver Job description

Job overview

We are seeking a dependable Truck Driver to transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites throughout the Central Valley on a daily basis.  Candidates must be comfortable with daily travel across various job sites and flexible with changing routes and schedules.

Essiential duties and responsibilities

  • Operate various types of trucks, including Transfers, Double-Bottoms, Semi-Bottoms, Side Dumps, End Dumps, Low Boys, And Water Trucks, to haul materials such as gravel, sand, concrete, and equipment.
  • Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment or manual methods.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and inspection reports.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules while adapting to traffic, weather, and road conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site supervisors, and crew members to coordinate deliveries and pickups.
  • Assist with basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE and safe driving practices.
  • Support the construction crew with general labor tasks when not driving, including site cleanup and material handling.
  • Promptly report any mechanical issues, delays, or incidents to supervisors.
  • Other Duties as Needed

Qualifications

  • Experience operating Transfers, Double-Bottoms, Semi-Bottoms, Side Dumps, End Dumps, Low Boys, And Water Trucks, preferred
  • Proficient in operating heavy-duty trucks and trailers under various road and site conditions.
  • Knowledge of proper techniques for securing loads using chains, straps, and tarps, preferred
  • Ability to perform routine checks and identify mechanical issues.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company safety protocols.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs

  • Ability To Work in Prolonged Periods of Outdoor Work, Under Extreme Weather

  • Ability To Function Well in a High-Paced and at Times Stressful Environment

  • Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record
